Grease stains from creams, limescale traces, rust, or grouting residues are the most common problems encountered during the cleaning and maintenance of natural stone bathrooms.
In today's article, we will guide you through the entire process from cleaning and protective coatings to regular maintenance.
This text was created in cooperation with and under the expert supervision of Mr. Daniel Manas, the distributor of professional Italian Bellinzoni chemicals in Slovakia.
Not all stone is the same! Choose care specifically according to your material's requirements.
A natural material in a demanding environment like a bathroom requires regular and, above all, professional maintenance. It is very important to correctly identify the material we are about to treat. If you are unsure, we recommend consulting an expert in your area, contacting us, or trying to identify the material yourself using our article, ,,Granite or Marble? A few tips on how to correctly identify stone."

Bathrooms made of polished marble, polished travertine, or polished concrete require special care.
Treatment and preparation for impregnation of stone surfaces divided by material and surface type
Some natural materials, such as polished marble, polished travertine, and increasingly polished concrete, require more delicate handling. This is because the high gloss on these materials is sensitive to acidic environments. For example, wine, vinegar, lemon juice, and especially acidic cleaners can irreversibly damage this gloss. Therefore, for cleaning these materials, we recommend using the diluted product LEM 3.
- Apply the product to the surface and let it sit for a while to loosen the dirt. After a few moments, wipe with clean water, or use a wet vacuum or a sponge.
- Then, wash the surface thoroughly once more with clean water.
For corrosion, the absolutely perfect product is B-RUST REMOVER MANGIA RUGGINE.
Traces from grouting with two-component grout can be removed with B-REMOXY. (Alkaline products with pH 7+)
How to deal with dirt in granite, unpolished - raw marble, travertine, or sandstone?
The most popular and effective product we can offer you is the stone cleaner BERT 27 in its diluted state.
- Apply the cleaner to the surface and let it work. It will loosen dirt and dissolve any unwanted grout settled in the pores of the material.
- Vacuum the product and wash thoroughly with water. (Acidic product with pH 7-)
- If a two-component grout was used, we recommend using the product B-REMOXY

A high-quality protective coating ensures a stable surface resistant to external influences
Choosing the right impregnation is not as difficult as with cleaning agents. All impregnations allow the material to "breathe," meaning they are vapor-permeable. This allows internal moisture to evaporate from the material while preventing external moisture from penetrating the impregnated side. It acts as a water repellent on the surface, demonstrated by the water-beading effect similar to waxed surfaces. If you want to learn more about how to correctly impregnate stone, read the article where we focused on this issue
A few basic points about impregnation:
- Do not dilute the impregnation
- Impregnate only an absolutely clean stone
- Apply with a clean, dry cloth or a foam roller
- Impregnate dry material
- Apply thin layers
- Wait at least 30 minutes after the first layer before applying the next one
- Apply until the material stops absorbing the protective coating - impregnation
- Wash with clean water after 24 hours
- Wash with detergent after 5 days
Simplified classification of impregnations by material
- Impregnations with color enhancement for polished stone: IDEA XC, IDEA DARK and IDEA BLACK (only for black stones).
- Impregnations without color enhancement for polished material: IDEA HP, IDEA GOLD, IDEA QUARZO (with food-grade certificate)
- Impregnation for raw, honed, unpolished stone and sandstone: STRONG 2000, GREZZO, B- WATER BLOCK
Impregnation provides protection against water and oils for all types of stone. Our recommended product allows the material to “breathe,” which means it is vapor-permeable. In other words, it won't let water and dirt into the material, but it will let moisture out from within the stone.
Apply the product evenly over the entire surface. Let it sit for 10 minutes and wipe off any excess impregnation with a clean cloth. If the stone has absorbed the impregnation, wait approximately 20 minutes and repeat the process.
Washing with clean water is possible after 24 hours of drying. We recommend washing with chemical agents only after five days of curing.

Bellinzoni impregnation guarantees the maximum possible surface protection of the stone against dirt, oils, and deposits.
Your bathroom is cleaned and protected from further contamination
If you followed the steps above, there should be clear satisfaction on your face. If not, an error occurred somewhere; please contact us. We will go over it together and find the mistake.
For long-term satisfaction, just maintain this state with suitable cleaning products designed for daily maintenance
For example, the REFRESH TOP product comes in a 750ml spray bottle. During routine maintenance, it cleans and keeps the surface hygienically clean - it disinfects. It is sprayed onto the surface and wiped off with a paper towel or clean cloth after a short period.
In case of mold formation, B-SANYCHLOR is the most suitable choice. It comes in a practical 750ml spray bottle. When sprayed, it creates an active foam that should be left to work for approximately 10 minutes. The product is then rinsed with clean water.
For limescale buildup on surfaces, glass, and around the shower area, use B-3 ACTION DOCCIA, which also comes in a 750ml spray bottle. It creates an active foam that you spread over the entire surface and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes. The foam cleans, disinfects, and even impregnates the surface. (Note: pH 7-) it is not suitable for polished marble and travertine. Just rinse the remaining product with water.
Why should you choose products from the Bellinzoni brand?
Since 1937, the Bellinzoni brand has been developing products focused exclusively on the treatment and maintenance of stone. It is an Italian brand, and as you surely know, Italy is the world center of stonemasonry and stone carving.
All products are developed exactly according to the needs of the stone and definitely do not have a composition similar to common cleaners offered in drugstores. As an example, residues of common household detergents reactivate upon contact with water. A stone cleaner does not do this. Otherwise, it would activate with every rain and gradually degrade the surface.
